ArtHouse Jersey October Pop Up - 'Zen Jenga'

After a successful launch in July, ‘ArtHouse Jersey Pop Up’ is back for a second iteration at the Greve de Lecq Barracks on Saturday 3rd & Sunday 4th October. Pop down, enjoy the work of local artists and have the chance to gain a better insight into artists’ work and practices. 'Zen Jenga' will focus on highlighting the creative talent based at our Greve de Lecq site, showcasing work from Tim Le Breuilly, Tom Parker, Anna Shipley and Oliver Le Gresley. The theme for this pop-up exhibition is 'Zen Jenga'. In Japan every 20 years, locals tear down the Ise Jingu grand shrine in Mie Prefecture only to rebuild it anew. They have been doing this for around 1,300 years. Some records indicate the Shinto shrine is up to 2,000-years old. The process of rebuilding the wooden structure every couple of decades not only helps to keep traditional crafts alive but also reflects upon ideas of impermanence and process within nature. These ideas, and the theme of traditional craft, will be explored within the exhibition, showcasing how these artists sought solace through their respective processes during lockdown while highlighting the activity at Arthouse Jersey's creative hub.Luddite Press will also be open over the weekend for people to come and see the studio itselfThe artists involved will be there during the exhibition and will be able to talk about their work and answer any questions. The event will be open from 10am-5pm on both the Saturday and the Sunday. There will be no onsite parking but there is parking is available two minutes walk away. We will be following COVID19 regulations by implementing social distancing and monitoring the number of people in the space at any one time.
