Drawing Portraits with Jason Butler

ArtHouse Jersey is pleased to announce the first in a series of online drawing workshops for islanders to enjoy at home. ‘Drawing Portraits with Jason Butler’ will take place at 7pm on Friday 22nd May 2020 on the video communications platform Zoom and will focus on the art of drawing portraits using charcoal.Tutor for the night, internationally renowned artist Jason Butler, has been temporarily lured out of teaching retirement by ArtHouse Jersey for this unique, one-off workshop. In recent years Jason’s primary focus has been on producing abstract paintings, but he does still accept portrait commissions.Day-to-day creativity proved such an important feature of many people's lives during the recent period of isolation. Thanks to feedback received from participants of the highly successful Nineteen Day Drawing Challenge: Isolation Creation Jersey, ArtHouse Jersey learned how many people were pleased to have either reignited a previously dormant artistic skill or indeed discovered an entirely new one.Having tapped into this local appetite for creativity at home, ArtHouse Jersey plans to offer a programme of ongoing workshops, providing the community with opportunities to learn more about specific areas of artistic practice or skill. In the coming months, ArtHouse Jersey will be offering online classes with renowned and skilled artists that people can participate in from the comfort of their own living room, helping to keep the community as a whole creative, while removing some potential participatory barriers that might ordinarily exist within the physical set up.THIS EVENT HAS NOW SOLD OUTWe are sorry if you missed out but please do keep an eye on our website and social media pages to hear about our future online classes.
