The ArtHouse Jersey Pop Up with Kelly Eastwood, Kirstie Fulton and Sam Greenwood
Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 April 2024 from 10am to 5pm
We welcome the latest in our Pop Up art exhibition series next weekend, this time a joint show with artists Kelly Eastwood, Kirstie Fulton and Sam Greenwood. The show will take place at Greve de Lecq Barracks on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 April 2024 between 10am to 5pm both days. The Pop Up exhibition programme provides local artists with a space to showcase their work collaboratively and offers the opportunity for people to meet the artists and learn about their craft as well as perhaps purchasing something special. The title of this exhibition is ‘Embrace’ which links to the wellbeing theme that runs alongside the artists’ work.
Kelly Eastwood is a freelance artist and illustrator who tutors creative sessions for a diverse range of people within our community. She describes her style as contemporary surrealism and enjoys merging the real, with the obscure. Kirstie Fulton is a collage artist with an MA in Graphic Design and a BA in Textile Design. She is passionate about the environment and her work for this pop up will feature illustrations of animals. Sam Greenwood uses a mindful process to create pieces with no intentions. He weaves layers to create striking pieces which are open to any interpretation. For this exhibition he plans to explore the theme of space.
Kelly Eastwood said “My body of work aims to capture the therapeutic impact of art making, using automatism as a vehicle to delve into the subconscious. This aligns with my current study to become a Therapeutic Art Practitioner, with Kairos Arts, and as part of the learning, there is an emphasis on self-discovery via the arts. All students are required to attend personal therapy with an Art Therapist and this has led me to examine my own childhood. Interestingly, one of the themes that emerged, for me, is my intense and irrational dislike of certain condiments and foods. I have paired some illustrations with my automatic response and as a result, the imagery has veered into some obscure directions. It has been both fear provoking and cathartic to analyse what comes up, but overall I have experienced a profound sense of therapeutic release and wellness.”
Kirstie Fulton “I am a BA Textile design grad (Royal Academy of Art, The Hague) turned graphic designer (MA, Falmouth). Inspired by nature, I collage illustrations - starting out with Jersey wildlife, now featuring creatures from all around the globe. Animal collages are my passion and I am excited to showcase my newest work at my upcoming Pop Up exhibition! I hope to inspire people to get creative by what they see in their environment”
Sam Greenwood “I have fallen into art as a process of quieting my thoughts, where the world can be a busy bustle and senses can be fried. I can always pour hours away swirling loops and lines without having to think about my next move. It helps me unpack my day, and leave behind snaps of the feelings I was having at that time. I am looking forward to seeing what other people see in the mix. I have had a lot of interesting interpretations and to hear what others' imaginations bring to the forefront is always so interesting!”
