ArtHouse Jersey presents The Distillery Sessions

ArtHouse Jersey has joined forces with a local liquor company and the Songwriters Society to provide a series of five live-streamed gigs showcasing the talents of local musicians. The first of The Distillery Sessions took place inside the Old Sail Loft Distillery, South Pier, on Thursday evening, and featured original music from singer/songwriters Monty Taft, Phoebe Over and Jared Crespel. Hosted by Songwriters Society founder David Keenan, the trio performed sets to a small, socially distanced audience while being professionally streamed locally and beyond via the Art House Jersey website. ‘We have an incredible nest of musical talent in the Channel Islands whom I feel are being overlooked in these difficult times,’ said Mark Taft, owner of La Bastille and founder of event sponsor The Channel Island Liquor Company. ‘They need our support as much if not more than anyone. In the Distillery we have a beautiful setting and we’re delighted to work with ArtHouse Jersey and the Songwriters Society, with whom we share the same vision.’ Overseeing the live-streaming element are local producers JP Le Blond and Paul Bisson, (who have been working with Art House Jersey Presents since the pandemic began), along with camera operator Rob Le Quelenec and sound engineer Nic Dinnie. ‘We’re delighted to be able to offer a professional live-stream platform to local songwriters and were blown away by the songwriting and musicianship on display at last week’s launch,’ said Mr Le Blond, owner of live-streaming service Inidima.com. ‘We’d encourage live-music lovers everywhere to tune in over the next few Thursdays and be part of this unique experience.’ The Distillery Sessions are free to watch, though in line with current Covid restrictions attendance at the privately-run events is limited to a small number of people. Anyone interested in attending is asked to email songwriterssociety@gmail.com for further details.
