Jyothi Nayar awarded the Olive Brown Bursary For 2020
ArtHouse Jersey is delighted to announce that the Olive Brown Bursary this year goesto local performing arts student Jyothi Nayar. Jyothi is about to embark on her 3rd yearBA Acting course at East 15 in September after two years at READ College in Reading.The bursary provides up to £1,000 per year, for up to three years, to assist the study ofone performing arts student from Jersey training at higher-education level every year.Olive Brown, originally from Salford in Lancashire, lived in the Island from 1959 until herdeath in 1990, when she left assets in a private will trust to be applied for charitablepurposes. Olive and her husband John were known to be devout members of theSalvation Army throughout their lives and also to be very kindly disposed to youngpeople, especially supportive of their creative aspirations.The Executors of the will trust decided to forward a sum of money to ArtHouse Jerseyin the knowledge that its resources and expertise are ideally suited to the fulfilment ofher wishes, ensuring her generosity lives on.Jyothi Nayar says “I’m absolutely delighted to have been chosen for the award! Havingthe opportunity to work towards producing my own production with added financialsupport feels amazing and so fortunate. I hope to bring this goal to fruition within the nextthree years while studying on the BA Acting Course at East 15.
