Sir Stephen Dalton appointed as Chair of ArtHouse Jersey

ARTHOUSE JERSEY ADDS THREE TRUSTEES TO SUPPORT CHARITY’S OBJECTIVES


ArtHouse Jersey is delighted to announce the appointment of Sir Stephen Dalton, the former Lieutenant-Governor of Jersey, as Chair of its board of trustees. Sir Stephen succeeds current Acting Chair, Gailina Liew, and is joined by the appointment of two additional trustees, Ashley Proudfoot and the Countess of Jersey.

ArtHouse Jersey Vice Chair, Gailina Liew, said: “We were very impressed by the quality of the candidates that came forward and are delighted to welcome Stephen, Ashley and Lady Jersey to our board. It has been a privilege to serve as Acting Chair following the sudden passing of Philip Hewat-Jaboor last year. My thanks go to fellow trustees and the entire team at ArtHouse Jersey who worked together to deliver an outstanding programme of events while also undergoing an intensive organisational development programme that has culminated in a strengthened team and the addition of three new trustees."

ArtHouse Jersey Chair, Sir Stephen Dalton, said of being appointed: “I am delighted and excited to be joining the ArtHouse Jersey Board of Trustees and I look forward to helping this remarkable charity continue to promote and bring all elements of the arts to Islanders. It will be a tremendous privilege to help guide the delivery of opportunities for more Islanders both to have the chance to experience some world class exhibitions and challenging art as well as to give those developing their specific skills the facilities to experiment and share their ideas and talents. Art really has the power to engage people from hugely different backgrounds and cultures and to help them to think through their personal challenges. Part of ArtHouse Jersey’s intent is also to help improve the well-being of Islanders and in so doing help them to be more productive in their daily lives and I am keen to do all that I can to help in this wonderful endeavour.”

SIR STEPHEN DALTON BIO

Sir Stephen Dalton joined the Royal Air Force in 1976 after graduating with an honours degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Bath University. His early career was spent as a frontline pilot on the Jaguar and Tornado aircraft. He subsequently commanded formations both in the United Kingdom and overseas. He also led multi-disciplinary and international teams on key programmes for over 20 years. Subsequently, Sir Stephen founded his own company and worked with major international companies / organisations advising them on the development of strategy and international engagement. By command of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Air Chief Marshal Sir Stephen Dalton was sworn into office as Lieutenant Governor of Jersey, on Monday 13 March 2017 at the start of a  five year term of office, during which he was Patron of key charities.

ASHLEY PROUDFOOT BIO

Ashley Proudfoot is a communications specialist with over 15 years of experience working with leading global brands, cultural institutions, architects and designers. A long-time New Yorker who now proudly calls Jersey home, Ashley brings a global perspective and passion for the arts cultivated through her work developing PR strategies and shaping stories for clients such as the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), The Museum of Fine Arts Houston (MFAH), Vitra Design Museum, and ANOHA: The Children’s World of the Jewish Museum Berlin (Olson Kundig). Ashley has led the execution of large-scale events and installations at international fairs and managed creative activations for major consumer brands. Ashley currently leads Public Relations at Visit Jersey.

LADY JERSEY BIO 

Lady Jersey, was educated locally at la Moye Primary, Les Quennevais School and Highlands College, and educated in the UK at Elmhurst Ballet School, Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance & qualified as a teacher at the Royal Academy of Dance. Having retired from professional performing she moved behind the scenes working for Waring & McKenna a talent management company where she was responsible for spotting and signing new talent. On returning to Jersey she continued her teaching practice at Jersey Academy of Dancing & Momentum Dance. Lady Jersey is patron of Centrepoint and Jersey Children’s Charity for whom she also serves as a Governor and is a serving Governor for the Highlands Foundation.
