We Are Memory: An ArtHouse Jersey Pop Up exhibition this weekend
This weekend sees the latest in ArtHouse Jersey’s series of pop up exhibitions take place, this time a collaborative show between local artists Nina Zaech and Lexie Taylor. 'We Are Memory' will take place on Saturday 30 April & Sunday 1 May at ArtHouse Jersey’s HQ at Greve de Lecq Barracks.These exhibitions invite you to ‘pop up’ to our HQ to enjoy the artists’ work in the unique setting of Greve de Lecq Barracks. Both artists will be there to welcome you throughout the weekend and and talk to you about their work, inspiration, processes.
THE ARTISTS
Nina Zaech creates minimalist paintings and lino prints. Having grown up in the Swiss mountains with parents who were artists, Nina's optical and abstract art is influenced by childhood memories. Of her work she said “I love optical art and minimal styles. In general I like the freedom of abstraction, going away from details, trying to depict the general power of 3d landscapes and geological layers. I’m fascinated by the power of lines and how they can easily form a landscape without any color, shades or objects. Growing up in the high mountains shaped me a lot as a person - hiking every weekend, feeling the rocks, seeing rock formations and being surrounded by huge 3D landscapes have all influenced me.”
Lexie Taylor graduated from Leeds College of Art in 2021 with BA honours in Fashion and Design. In the same year she launched her print business Lexie Taylor Design. Her primary practice is illustration based using a combination of digital and hand drawn techniques to create female focused, en vogue, digital prints.
Her inspiration is usually drawn from those close to her, where friends and family become a way to explore themes of identity and memory. Lexie’s delicate linework is used to suggest the shape, movement, and emotion of those familiar to her although mostly the drawings maintain a sense of anonymity and relatability. We Are Memory will be the first time Lexie has publicly exhibited these illustrations. She says she hopes to bring a bold presence of colour, energy and simplicity to your walls.
The ArtHouse Jersey Pop Up exhibition ‘We Are Memory’ by Lexie Taylor & Nina Zaech takes place this coming weekend, Saturday and Sunday at Greve de Lecq Barracks between 10am and 5pm each day.
Parking is available in the lower car park 2 mins walk away.
