ArtHouse Jersey at Capital House
Entry and Exit
Entry and exit is from Church Street (this on the Royal Square side of the St Helier Town Church).
The entrance on Church Street has 6 steps with a handrail.
It also has a wheelchair lift. You must be seated in a wheelchair to use the lift. If you do not have a wheelchair, but are unable to use the stairs, we have a collapsible wheelchair at Capital House which can be used for access.
If you require assistance or the entrance poses an accessibility barrier, please contact us by email ahead of your visit or use the call panel at the bottom of the stairs to call through to ArtHouse Jersey staff and they'll be happy to assist you.
Guide, assistant and companion animals – including assistant dogs in training – are welcome. Please ensure they are kept on a lead.
Accessible Parking
There are Blue Badge disabled parking bays opposite Capital House on Church Street.
Carer ad companion tickets
All exhibitions are free of charge.
Visitors can request a free companion or carer ticket to paid events by calling or emailing our team.
Sensory note: Tuesday mornings from 10.30am to 1pm are usually a quieter time to visit. Please see the bottom the event specific webpage for further sensory information, where and when relevant.
Call Panel
Press the button under the ‘Name’ section on the panel.
Use the arrow buttons to scroll and select which organisation you would like to call. In this case, it’s ArtHouse Jersey.
Press the green button to call through to ArtHouse Jersey.
One of the ArtHouse Jersey team in Capital House will answer your call and can come out to assist you in using the stairs or will prepare the wheelchair lift for use.
Wheelchair Lift
For safety purposes, a member of the ArtHouse Jersey team will operate the lift for you.
The wheelchair lift is situated within the right hand side of the steps.
You must be seated in a wheelchair to use the lift. If you do not have a wheelchair, but are unable to use the stairs, we have a collapsible wheelchair which can be utilised for access. Please just ask a member of staff.
The gate will be closed at the top of the steps and the stairs will retract.
Wheel onto the flat area of the lift bed and put on the brake or switch off your chair to ensure you do not move. If your chair is manually pushed it may be best to go in backwards so that it is simpler to exit the lift at the top of the stairs.
Low metal safety sides will come up around the base of the lift panel, and you will proceed to the top of the stairs.
The gate will then be opened and you can wheel out to the landing, enter the building through the glass sliding doors and turn left into the exhibition space on the ground floor.
