ArtHouse Jersey launches survey of local creative and artistic community

ArtHouse Jersey has launched a survey asking the local creativity community for their input into the types of events and opportunities they feel are currently missing in the Island. The organisation, which is looking to build on its programme of events and offerings at their premises at Greve de Lecq Barracks, is inviting artists of all kinds to fill in a short questionnaire

The survey includes both multiple choice and open questions about the types of events people would like to attend, their opinions on fair pricing and which events they have been inspired by, both locally and further afield.Information gleaned from the answers given, all of which will be treated entirely confidentially, will go towards helping ArtHouse Jersey make informed decisions for future artist-focused events, covering a mix of networking, collaboration, feedback, pitching and development & learning opportunities. As restrictions ease across the Island, ArtHouse Jersey is looking to throw open the doors of its HQ to local creators, inviting people to fully embrace The Barracks as a creative and cultural hub. The site and its studios act as the perfect place to meet, network, discuss, debate and learn, and ArtHouse Jersey is committed to gaining a better insight into what would be most useful and enjoyable for the local creative community to attend there.Alongside learning more about the appetite for certain types of events, they are asking what people’s understanding is of the arts charity’s support-for-artists, in particular the investments they make through grants, commissions and employment.

Director of ArtHouse Jersey, Tom Dingle said “We aim to serve the community through the arts and a key part of this is supporting and investing in local artists and the creative community. One way we want to expand our work in this area is to facilitate physical events where artists can meet each other, exchange ideas, inspire each other and generally feel a part of a vibrant arts scene. Given the year creatives have had, what they need may well have evolved. We want to ensure that what we are offering is appropriate and useful. I wholeheartedly encourage anyone who considers themselves a creative person in Jersey to take a few minutes to do this survey and tell us frankly what they think. The more opinions we have, the better placed we are to deliver  effective and exciting events and opportunities for artists.”

Those who would like to take part in the survey are asked to visit the ArtHouse Jersey website and if they would like to be added to the artist and creative community database simply email emma@arts.je.
